I grew up acting in Los Angeles — on sets, in studios, in front of cameras. I’ve also spent decades behind the scenes as a professional portrait photographer. Between acting, photography, and building a skincare company, I’ve seen thousands of faces — and I can say with certainty: confidence is the most beautiful thing a woman can wear.
My confidence at 20 looked very different from my confidence now. Back then, it came from approval. From being chosen. From looking the part.
Today, it comes from knowing who I am and trusting myself enough to show up as her. That shift didn’t happen overnight. It came from years of learning, unlearning, and listening — to my body, my instincts, and my own quiet voice.
For a long time, I resisted “getting dressed up.” I was raised by a free-spirited, bohemian mother and I carried that energy with me. I lived in jeans, avoided heels, and rejected anything that felt performative.
But as my life and career evolved, I realized presentation didn’t have to mean pretending. It could be an extension of who I already was. I found my version of polish — wide-leg pants, a hand-me-down satin blouse, clean skin, flea-market jewelry.
I had to find my own new style of professionalism that gave me confidence in this newer corporate world, but didn’t strip me of my Bohemic preferences of fashion.
Beauty isn’t about chasing trends. It’s about feeling at home in your own skin. And when you do, it shows. When you love yourself enough, you will show up radiating an infectious confidence. And THAT is a magnet to all those around you. And let’s be honest — confidence isn’t something you buy or are born with. It’s something you build — quietly and consistently.
It doesn't take hard work, but it does take doing something.
A healthy self care routine, from a relaxing face wash to making a healthy green smoothie, can all help play into building confidence.
The beauty industry is finally beginning to reflect that truth. We’re seeing women like Pamela Anderson and Demi Moore show up bare-faced, unapologetic, and fully themselves. It’s not about rejecting beauty — it’s about redefining it.
You can clearly see they have a skincare routine for their glow and they both probably take morning walks and say “no” more often to cake and “yes” to fruit. So it’s not “brave” when they go out in public without makeup on and off camera, it’s an intentional flex.
It’s earned confidence at its finest.
Social media reflects what you feed it. The algorithm follows your attention — your taps, your pauses, your energy. So remember to choose content rooted in positivity, health, humor, and even cats! Treat yourself like a best friend and focus on what supports you because what you give your attention to shapes how you feel.
Today, platforms like TikTok and Instagram are filled with real women — not celebrities, not perfection — showing us that beauty was never meant to be exclusive. It’s something we’re all allowed to step into. It can be playful and powerful.
We are living in an era of freedom to define beauty for ourselves, to stop measuring our worth against others, and to choose compassion over comparison. Because true confidence isn’t about how we look to the world — it’s about how at home we feel within ourselves.
