At IN YOUR FACE SKINCARE, we maintain a very small carbon footprint with our packaging.
Our product boxes use minimal paper – with no added inserts.
Our shipping boxes use 60% recycled paper, no bleach, and are 100% made in the USA.

SUSTAINABILITY WITH GLASS PACKAGING
Even our glass jars, though elegant, are not extravagant or wasteful in design. We use the smallest amount of pure glass for each product.
For example, our CAFFEINE LIFT EYE CREAM comes in a standard .5 oz jar. Most companies will use a large, approximately 3 oz, plastic container with a .5 oz plastic insert added in the packaging which contains the .5 oz of product.
This gives the appearance of getting more product, which is not only deceptive but wasteful, as they're using a lot of unnecessary plastic.
We often have customers who ask if they can mail back their empty jars for us to be able to reuse. This would require us to purchase large-scale sterilizing equipment that is extremely costly. And it's why our glass jar suppliers who specialize in packaging have that kind of equipment.
A multi-billion dollar company like Nespresso allows you to mail back your used aluminum pods for them to recycle, but at $7 billion a year they have the demand and machinery to afford that sanitizing expense.
Glass is 100% recyclable and can be melted down and reused without losing any quality like most plastics.
While we have looked at doing refill-bags or pods for our products, at the end of the day we would be adding more plastic into our company and into our planet.
Plastics recycling is a process that’s still undergoing changes. The paradox that motivates us into staying with glass is the issue of generating microplastics during the process of recycling.
THE PROBLEM WITH PLASTICS
Microplastics are found in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat. Their impact on marine life, wildlife, and potentially human health is a growing concern.
These minuscule particles can attract and concentrate harmful pollutants, making their way up the food chain and posing a threat to entire ecosystems.
Globally, only about 10% of all plastics are recyclable. Recycling is expensive and most plastic isn’t in the right condition to actually be recycled.
Plastic breaks down into microplastics that can then leech into our soil and water, thus affecting our foods, our body and oceans etc. And sadly, a lot of that recyclable plastic is very costly to consumers like us.
Believe it or not, it's cheaper for companies to buy non-recyclable plastic containers, which is what many tend to do.
WHY WE USE GLASS PACKAGING
The beauty of glass is that it is always recyclable and whether it gets melted at a recycling facility or whether it breaks down in landfills and oceans (where unfortunately, most garbage tends to end up), you can feel confident that you are not contributing to a polluted planet.
Not to mention, with regards to skincare, glass is also inert (non-reactive) with no synthetic chemicals, making it a safe storage for skincare products.
Manufacturers along with consumers can make informed choices supporting businesses that prioritize sustainable packaging…like glass.
While we work to improve the problem of plastic pollution, the role of recycling is a double-edged sword that requires us to tread carefully, balancing the benefits of waste reduction with the risks of microplastic generation.
Reducing the use of plastics and microplastics will quickly lead to the recovery of our planet's environmental ecosystems and thus, our own body's health.
